ID-223 Oil Sheen Monitoring System

The Leakwise ID-223 sensors detect the presence of oil and monitors the buildup of thin layers of hydrocarbons on water or in dry sumps and containment areas.

Many petroleum and power companies use it for early detection, warning, and control of oil leaks and spills in wet or dry sumps, tanks, ditches. Other applications include hydrocarbon detection and monitoring in oil/water separators, cooling water trenches, storm water runoffs, retention ponds, boiler condensate tanks, and wastewater sewer systems.

The ID-223 sensor has a high frequency transmitter that is maintained at the air/water interface and transmits a signal to the grounding antenna located below the water surface. The ID-223 can detect a 0.3 mm (0.01 inch) oil layer and continues to measure layer growth up to 20 mm (1 inch). The grounding antenna is located around the circumference of the sensor and provides high measurement sensitivity due to the sensor’s large diameter of 160 mm (6.3 inch).

The ID-223 has 3 sub-models:

ID-223/500 – operates in water level variations from 40 mm to 500 mm (1.6 inch to 19.7 inch). This sensor is rigidly mounted with the detector floating on the water surface as the level changes. Will indicate air status in dry sumps until greater than 40 mm of water and/or oil layer thickness is present.

ID-223/2000 – operates in water level variations from 70 mm to 2000 mm (2.8 inch to 6.6 feet). This sensor is installed on two guide tubes or free floating using mooring ropes. The sensor body floats up and down with water level changes and the detector travels inside the sensor body. Will indicate air status in dry sumps until greater than 70 mm of water and/or oil layer thickness is present.

ID-223/2500 – operates in water level variations from 70 mm to 2500 mm (2.8 inch to 8.2 feet). This sensor is installed on two guide tubes. The sensor body floats up and down with water level changes and the detector travels inside the sensor body. Will indicate air status in dry sumps until greater than 70 mm of water and/or oil layer thickness is present. This sensor can be fitted with a longer spiral cable to allow travel over water level variations up to 5500 mm (18 feet).
